National statistical offices are operating in an increasingly complex setting with an expanding data ecosystem, changing regulatory environments, often associated with digital government transformation and the growing range of stakeholders which calls for new data governance practices. With an increasing demand for timely, granular data national statistical offices are increasingly looking to integrate data from different sources as a way to meet these demands, which is necessitating changes to data governance arrangements. With data integration come new opportunities but also new challenges.

In Seoul, on 10-11 September 2024, Statistics Korea and the UNESCSAP will explore the lessons learned so far, focusing on the new trends of data governance and data integration in the Asia-Pacific region to deliver high-quality statistics to maximise development impact. It will also seek to present a range of perspectives on the opportunities provided through data integration as well as challenges that the NSOs are facing.
